Karen and Johan invites you to enjoy an African wildlife experience like you couldn’t have dreamed of.
The area is typical wooded savannah, with marula, knobthorn and leadwood trees predominant. As the rainfall is generally low, waterholes become focus points, especially in winter. Animals are largely territorial, so we are assured of excellent sightings during our safari activities.
We conduct game drives in especially modified Land Cruisers, renowned for their comfort and reliability. As the vehicles are open, you are assured of excellent all-round visibility, as well as the excitement of meeting animals close up with nothing between you! Our rangers are well versed in ensuring that you have a thrilling and informative safari.
The Bush takes on a different aspect when on foot. Your experienced ranger will take you walking if you so wish. Feel the exhilaration of stalking animals, finding new birds or learning the ways of the Baboon Spider and other creepy-crawlies!.
Meals are a culinary delight! Romantic dinners are served around the fire in the reeded Boma or on the lawn under the stars. The accent is on typical South African country fare, with dishes to suit all palates. Special requests are handled with pleasure!
Our Tranquility Lapa is situated in a quiet area of the Lodge & offers relaxing entertainment during the day. Indulge yourself with a cold drink from our specially selected bar, with only the sounds of nature to provide background music.
This camp is a green oasis is the Bush. There are only six African rondawels and hunting Lodges, ensuring the luxury of a small and intimate camp. The Lodge is newly renovated and offers a wonderful base for your Safaris. Each rondawel is twin or double bedded, with en-suite facilities and a marvelous al fresco shower.
Your stay here would probably follow this routine:
Arrive here after an easy drive to a warm welcome.
In the late afternoon, arm yourself with binoculars and cameras and set off with your ranger in an open Land Cruiser. Follow bush roads through our reserve, using all of your senses to find the animals. We stop for everything of interest, possibly the spoor of hunting leopards or a herd of dazzling zebras. We stop at a vantage point as the sun goes down and the day turns swiftly to night. The flashlights come on as we search for secretive nocturnal creatures, from the sleek genet, the cute bush baby to an unforgettable view of a leopard.
When it gets really dark, your Ranger will take you on a Cosmic Safari, with an in-depth view of the spectacular African night sky. He will point out constellations, regale you with stories of the sky.
Back at the Lodge, the campfire is blazing. Dinners are a social affair, with guests mingling with their hosts as they enjoy fireside cuisine with an African influence. Tasty starters are accompanied by our famous “pot brood”, freshly baked in a cast iron pot nestled in the coals.
Retire to your comfortable room, with a multitude of memories, to prepare yourself for the excitement of the day ahead.
Your ranger will knock on the door to awaken you to the Bushveld dawn. Coffee, tea and rusks are served in the outdoor lounge. Enjoy the antics of playful vervet monkeys as they too prepare for the day. Set off into the sunrise in the Land Cruiser to find out what has been happening in the dead of night and follow spoor of animals on the move. Your ranger will lead you off on foot too, to discover sights which you would miss from a vehicle. The dawn chorus of birdsong is particularly memorable.
Return to the Lodge for a hearty breakfast.
Relax around the pool for the morning or recline upon a chaise lounge with a view over the waterhole.
A “feel at home” ambiance will ensure that you have a truly memorable stay with us.
